Unearth the secrets of the Earth at the South Shore YMCA Nature Center with our Geology Merit Badge course, led by experienced and certified Merit Badge Counselors. This engaging, hands-on program gives Scouts the opportunity to explore the dynamic forces that shape our planet while completing all the requirements for the Geology badge.
Scouts will examine rock and mineral samples, learn how to read geological maps, explore the processes of erosion, sedimentation, and plate tectonics, and discover how geology impacts our everyday lives — from natural resources to engineering.
Check-in will begin at 11:30 am with the Badge session starting at 11:45 am.
Bonus Opportunity: Looking to make the most of your day? We’re also offering a morning Merit Badge session for those interested in earning the Oceanography Merit Badge. Register for both sessions and experience a full day of earth and marine science exploration!

- Who Should Attend: Scouts working toward their Geology Merit Badge
- What to Bring: Completed Requirements. Please bring a peanut and tree-nut free lunch and water if you register for both the Oceanography and Geology Merit Badges.
